Setting sail from Nadi
Nadi, on the west coast of Viti Levu island, is home to Fiji's main international airport. The large Indian population means that Nadi is a real cultural melting pot, and the city's most recognisable landmark is the colourful Sri Siva Subrahmanya Swami Hindu temple. There is also a lively market and some lovely beaches nearby, while much of the surrounding countryside is dominated by sugarcane fields.

Micronesia: Colonia (Yap)
A visit to the island of Yap is a truly unforgettable experience. Outside of the capital, Colonia, a traditional village caste system still survives, and you’ll see beautiful wooden houses, ancient stone footpaths and men dressed in colourful loincloths. Yap is also famous for its giant stone money, up to 4 metres in diameter and very difficult to move!

Palau: Palau
Scattered across the South Pacific, several hundred miles to the east of the Philippines, the Republic of Palau is a stunning archipelago of lush, jungle-coated islands. The crystalline turquoise waters of the surrounding lagoon are a diver’s paradise, while on land you’ll find colourful bird life, prehistoric paintings and remnants from the Second World War.

Arriving in Keelung (Taipei)
Keelung is a fairly unremarkable port city close to Taiwan's capital, Taipei. The city is best known for its night market, where a mouthwatering array of food is on offer in an atmospheric setting. Otherwise, you are best off heading for Taipei if you want to prolong your stay on the island; the capital draws on an interesting mix of Chinese, Japanese and Western influences, and is home to attractive temples, a burgeoning street food scene and Taipei 101, which was the world's tallest building until it was eclipsed by Dubai's Burj Khalifa in 2010.
Don't miss
Miaokou market is great to see just for the bustle and activity, but this is also a great place to try all sorts of local foods, fresh fish and some Taiwanese specialities.

What we love
The perfect combination of technical expertise and thoughtful design makes these ships stand out as very special additions to the expedition fleet. We are particularly excited that Hanseatic Inspiration will be a totally bilingual ship, showing Hapag-Lloyd's commitment to the English-speaking markets.

Where to stay in Keelung
To be honest you would probably be better off staying in Taipei, but if you need a Keelung hotel, we would choose the Evergreen Laurel.
Excursions from Keelung
Visit the Yeliou Geopark to see its unique rock formations formed by sea erosion and earth movements.
